Robinson of Lymington U3A sent us the following:
Name/Location: Lymington is on the South Coast of England with
15,000 inhabitants. It has a popular yachting harbour and is on the
edge of the New Forest.
Members: The U3A has 420 members drawn from the surrounding area.
We have a General Meeting once a month when we invite a speaker. Also
we have a Coffee Morning Plus where members are invited to tell us about
their exploits and experiences in life once a month.
Groups/Activities: There are 40 groups meeting in each others
houses and local halls -ranging from Languages - to exercise - hobbies/games
etc. We organised a Study Day in March 2012 entitled 'Coastal Heritage
- the Solent through the Ages' when we explored Bouldnor - a submerged
Mesolithic site in the Solent, the Mary Rose, and watched a DVD about
The New Forest Coastal Heritage Project. The Maritime Bus of the Hampshire
and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology was on site too. You can find
