My name is John Court and I am a member of Banstead U3A.

Location: Banstead is a town in the county of Surrey, England, on the border with Greater London with a population of about 46,280 people. It lies on the North Downs 21 km from the centre of London. Banstead is protected by the Metropolitan Green Belt (so far). Although Banstead is a town, it is known locally as "Banstead Village".

Banstead appears as a destination in the 1895 novel The Time Machine by H. G. Wells and is also mentioned in his novel, The War of the Worlds. Pepys mentions a footrace on Banstead Downs held on Thursday the 30th of July 1663

Activities: Banstead U3A was founded in 1985. We have a wide range of interests such as languages, arts, crafts, reading groups, science, social studies, philosophy, history, bridge, computing, table tennis, scrabble, walking and many more.

Personal: We aim to fulfill a gap by providing accessible and stimulating opportunities for self-development at a stage in life when people have a little more time for expanding their interests.
